But beneath the glittering surface, she\u2019s been struggling with a thirty year battle with cancer. Being on stage allows Ruth to enter a new world, free of medication, doctor visits, and scans. \u201cWhen I\u2019m on stage, I\u2019m immersed in that moment, in that play, in that character. I don\u2019t see the people out front. I don\u2019t feel the stomach ache that I had on stage. You\u2019re just in a whole different world,\u201d says Ruth.
