In September of 2024, Asheville, N.C. experienced a devastating storm called Hurricane Helene. Homes, stores and infrastructure were damaged to irreparable extremes. Since then, communities have been working together to rebuild their towns into what they once were. Although so much was lost, Asheville’s loving qualities never faded away.

Since 2004, Carolina Photojournalism Workshop has provided students with an immersive experience to produce films that capture life around the Carolinas. Students work alongside coaches who currently work professionally in the field. This year, a group of 8 students traveled to Asheville, N.C. to document life after Hurricane Helene.
