A Seed Planted

Wang Pao Yang came to United States from Laos in 1979 and has been living in Conover for roughly 20 years. He keeps a farm in his backyard, a tradition that reminds him the life back in Laos. Coming to United States was not easy. After fall of Saigon, Yang and his wife Tang Kue crossed the Mekong River from Laos and arrived in the refugee camp in Thailand.

Initially when they came to United States, Yang and his wife faced language and culture barriers; they have to take two shifts to support their family. Despite that in Hmong culture family has to stay together, Yang wants his children to pursue better education and new opportunities in United States. He hopes that all his suffer in the past will eventually lead his family to a better future.
