“Love seems like such a small word.”
Susan and Gary Roath have built a life on love and artisanship. Now both retired, Susan creates intricate works of stained glass in her workshop while Gary creates everything from ginkgo leaf trivets to tables in the forge.
After meeting one night in Blowing Rock in their early twenties, the pair dated for about six months before getting married and moving out to the country to start their lives together.
Susan and Gary have spent nearly four decades establishing a “simple but beautiful” life together on their 75 acres of land tucked away in the foothills of North Carolina.
Over the last five years, Gary has experienced various health problems, causing Susan to reflect on how he has impacted her life over their 38 years of marriage.
