“Wealth lives in people, not the dollars in your pocket.”
Every day, Bruce Waller, co-owner of Grind Avl Coffee Shop and co-founder of Black Wall street works to better the African American community through entrepreneurship. With his support, including Jay Hackett and his family, he seeks to revive Black Wall Street in Asheville, NC and reclaim it as the Black mecca it once was in the late 1900s. He fulfills his vision through his mentorship position to the younger generation and acting as a facilitator and catalyst for small black-owned businesses. He is a firm believer in the empowerment of his community and strives to exemplify this in his work at both Grind Avl and Black Wall Street.
By helping small-owned black businesses, he is hoping to achieve economic equality on par with other demographic communities. Through balancing work and home life, Bruce shows the importance of uplifting black lives in the community.
