“If I can play for an audience of one, I could play for an audience of 20,000. Wouldn’t matter.”
Jerry Reed Smith has created a name for himself as a dulcimer maker and musician. For almost fifty years, Reed Smith has put his whole life into uplifting the sound of the dulcimer by building and playing for others. His relationship with the instrument is more than his artistry. Twelve years ago, his love for the dulcimer was almost destroyed because of challenges in his personal life. With God’s help, he rediscovered the reason why he became so infatuated by the instrument. The process of relearning how to play has been a difficult task, but Reed Smith continues to play because of his desire to share his love for the beautiful sound with other people.
