A Better Way

By Jennifer Tran

“This sort of takes up your life doing this, it’ll grab you and hold you, and since I like it, I don’t mind being held so much.”

Bob Hinkle has held just about every role in the music industry during a career spanning more than 50 years. He’s been a product manager, an artist manager, he founded his own children’s record label, and he’s even been a musician himself. Needing a change of pace Hinkle left New York and moved back home to Western NC where he decided to open White Horse Black Mountain, an iconic music venue in the heart of Black Mountain NC. White Horse Black Mountain has stood the test of time and remained a central piece of downtown Black Mountain for 14 years. It is known as a listening room; a place where musicians can come to connect with the audience and a place where the audience can truly engage with the music.
