Thank Ya Kindly

“There’s not a day that goes by where I’m on the street where somebody at least once is moved by my music or has made their day.”

Busking is a term from the 1800s referring to a street musician. Asheville, North Carolina, is a nationally recognized location for buskers to perform, including Lyle Rickards. Lyle is a traveling musician who decided to settle down in the mountain town for its arts and busker friendliness.

Lyle plays a multitude of instruments including the fiddle, banjo, autoharp, mandolin, dorbo, and more. Lyle is most recognized for playing the Appalachian Dulcimer. The string instrument features just three strings and is commonly played in the Folk Music Genre.

Busking is Lyle’s passion and lifestyle, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t come without its challenges. Lyle lives in a van and has to figure out on a daily basis where he can park his van in safe areas to stay overnight while also being close to public transportation to busk downtown. Hurdles like this don’t stop Lyle from doing what he loves.
