On the shore of Lake Norman,

A group of sixteen talented students and coaches spent a week sourcing, filming and editing seven unique stories about the communities on and near Lake Norman. Students brought their cameras and coaches on boats, to barbershops, up rock walls, through local businesses and even on a racetrack. Individually, the short films paint lively portraits of individuals pursuing hobbies, jobs and passions. As a collection, they offer an immersive journey, celebrating the individuality and communal spirit of the people who call Lake Norman home.

Since 2004, the Carolina Photojournalism Workshop has captured life in unique locations across the Carolinas. Every year, students from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill embed themselves in local communities for a week to produce a documentary website with the guidance of professional coaches. This year, a group of 16 students, web designers and coaches travelled to Lake Norman, NC for the workshop.
