Open Grounds Farm, which runs on 44,000 acres outside Beaufort, N.C., is one of the many U.S. farms responsible for the changing face of the farming industry. Replacing the perception that farms are family-run and require hard physical labor, workers at Open Grounds plant crops in air-conditioned tractors with GPS systems, bringing technology into the fields and a corporate hand into the operations.
