Hammocks Beach State Park Ranger Sam Bland settles in at the office on the mainland each morning to check email, wrap up lose ends and ready his cup of tea. It is the first stop of many in a busy and unpredictable day for Bland, who is responsible for maintaining the wild life that inhabits Bear Island.
