Alcoa Badin Works has not produced aluminum for since 2007, but still operates four dams on the Yadkin River producing power and revenue for the company. Many people, including Ken Huneycutt, argue that Alcoa contractually obligated to turn over operation and revenue of the dams to the people of Stanly County.
