Project Description
A Better Way
By Jennifer Tran
“I’m going to take care of the whole, because if I take care of the whole, I’ll be taken care of as I am part of the whole.”
Paul Caron dreamt of creating a better society. He knew he was going to be the one to do it. In 1995, the vision became reality on 300 acres of thriving woodland teeming with life and possibility located near Asheville, North Carolina. From a simple hunting shed, Earthaven grew with new trails, roads, and communal buildings. The simple idea grew to hold roughly 100 members who strive to learn and educate people about living a sustainable life.
Community members come together to build relationships and live a more simple life in a village built on participatory self-governance, consensus and a culture of growth and understanding.
The community hopes to share their new way of living in order to inspire others to live a more sustainable and holistic lifestyle.
