Deep off winding N.C. 28 lies Tellico Trout Farm tucked away in an Appalachian valley north of Franklin, N.C. The farm was originally a gathering place for Cherokee tribal meetings, later it was a post office and town center in the late 1800’s, but it has slowy transformed over the years. Its name taken from the Cherokee word for peace, “tallaquah,” the farm and the valley it lies in is more than a fish hatchery; it is a place of peace for its owner Mike Macke, his family and home for the four other families that live and work on the farm.
