Jim Moore is the owner of Spring Ridge Creamery in Otto, North Carolina. He began building his dairy farm in 1993 at the age of 50 with his wife and high school sweetheart, Judy. Three years after they began to build the farm, Judy was killed by a drunk driver.

Despite the tragedy of loosing his wife, Jim continued to complete the production of his farm. He currently lives by himself up the hill from the creamery where he sells ice cream during the day. He has two sons and a daughter, all of whom visit him from time to time but have moved out and are now living on their own. Jim has four people who help him with the day-to-day maintenance of his farm and creamery.

Even though there are only 13 cows on Jim’s dairy farm, they produce enough milk to sell a variety of dairy products in the street-side creamery including ice cream, eggnog, cheese, butter, and three different types of milk. Jim explains that despite the variety of products offered at his creamery, ice cream makes up for about eighty percent of the total revenue of his farm.
