“An amazing thing happened to me last night, I went to bed an apple grower, and I woke up a tree farmer.” In April 2007, Benny Arrington and his family lost almost half a million dollars when a freeze destroyed their 75-acre apple crop. It was the worst freeze in the Waynesville area since 1955. Even though the crop has been lost, Arrington must continue to prune and spray his trees to get them ready for next year’s crop.
